HOUSTON  RODEO
On March  3rd, 2002...George Strait performed the last concert at Houston's Astrodome before a crowd of 68,266...next year he's scheduled to open the new Reliant Stadium and perform the first-ever concert there...here are some photos from that final and historic concert for King George!!!
When George first walked on stage, I was lucky that he looked my way so I could take this photo (above)...then he strapped on his guitar (below) and waved at fans before he started singing...(third photo below)...
Much tighter Wranglers in Houston than in Lafayette...just as we ladies like 'em most...:) !!
After George had sung a few of his hits, former President Bush got up from his seat and climbed the steps to the stage...surprising George while presenting him with the "Legends of the Rodeo Award"...a beautiful crystal trophy...President Bush (above with George) said that "no one deserved it more than George Strait"...

In the photos below you can see George during his "thank you" speech...recalling the first time he played at the Houston Astrodome (when he filled-in for a sick Eddie Rabbitt) and how much fun he'd had over the years playing there...he thanked the fans for their loyalty and support in always coming out to see him...and promised bigger and better things to come next year when he opens the new stadium...
After his speech and setting down his Award, George dedicated "Love Without End, Amen" to President and Mrs. Bush...the photo below was taken when he sang that song...
That beautiful smile (above)...and that beautiful butt...(below)...
